Melba J. Mc Gilvrey, LCMFT, LCAC, graduated from Friends University in 1997 with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. Prior to this, Melba had worked in the addictions field for twelve years, and, began working with individuals, both adult and adolescent, and their family members, in the drug treatment setting. It was here that Melba developed an avid interest in family therapy. Following her graduate studies, Melba went to work in the Family Preservation and Foster Care arena, providing Intensive Reintegration and Family Therapy to families with children in the custody of the State. Melba has been in private practice since 2006, providing Trauma Informed therapy services to individuals and families, with experience in treating depression, anxiety, grief and loss, addiction and recovery, relationship issues, codependency, blended family issues, PTSD resulting from Domestic Violence and/or physical and sexual abuse, parenting, and family conflict. Melba has a special interest in Domestic Violence and Women’s Issues. I work collaboratively with my clients to assist in resolving past and current issues, release outdated beliefs, and to discover what may be blocking their achievement of identified goals and fulfilling their highest potential and desired state of contentment.
